Paintings:
In my painting, I use acrylic on both panel and handmade paper, and a wide variety of tools and media to develop richly layered, scraped, and scratched surfaces, including cast and/or torn paper, brooms, lace, knives, twigs, sand, and stones. Colour is very important to me, and I build up many layers of glazes and washes to achieve the right depth of colour. I see each piece as a gateway or passage – indicators of liminal space and markers of an inner terrain – opening the inner eye to some of the symbols encountered along the way. They are intended as meditations and explorations of the layers of being. They make visible some of that which is invisible.
